A key cultural event of the year, the inaugural Lahore Biennale kicks off on March 18 2018 and for two weeks aims to transform Lahore into “a dynamic exhibition and engagement space.” An ambitious programme, organisers - the Lahore Biennale Foundation (LBF) - will hold a series of exhibitions across the city with works from the fields of visual arts, architecture, literature, performing arts, music, film and design. The LBF has invited artists, groups and institutions to work on various scales at a number of sites in Lahore and hopes to hold similar exhibitions in the city every two years.

Established in 2014, the LBF aims to bring art to the public sphere by providing spaces for experimentation in visual expression and experience. To this end, the LBF endeavors to actively support art-related projects across Pakistan and in the three years since its inception has facilitated major public art projects including ‘My East is Your West’, a collateral project for the 56th Venice Biennale and ‘Intersections’, a public art project at Istanbul Chowk, Lahore.

The Lahore Biennale will run from 18-31 March 2018.
