Modern Urdu short story writers such as Saadat Hasan Manto, Ghulam Abbas, and Bano Qudsia have dealt with diverse social, moral, and political issues ranging from the trauma of partition and Pakistan's creation (1947) to the complexities of post-independence life within Pakistani and Indian society. The course is based on their acclaimed literary efforts and aims to introduce their works to the world outside South Asia.
