The seventh annual Lahore Literary Festival kicks off today at the Alhamra Arts Center in Lahore.

The three-day event begins with an address by Urdu poet Zehra Nigah on the life and legacy of Faiz Ahmed Faiz and will feature contributions from historian Ayesha Jalal, writer and journalist Sanam Maher, filmmaker Umar Riaz, Urdu playwright and poet Asghar Nadeem Syed, novelist Mohsin Hamid, and more.

As in previous years, the festival will also feature sessions celebrating Pakistan’s regional languages alongside sessions in Urdu and English. A session on literature and Sufism in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will commemorate the life and works of Pashto poet Hamza Shinwari.

The Lahore Literary Festival runs from 22nd to 24th February at the Alhamra Arts Center in Lahore.
